Heating, cooling and ventilation

Back to Operations

Submission brief - updated after the BH Gmunden meeting on 19 August 2026. The earlier hall-airflow and fixed multi-split assumptions are not the submission basis. A qualified installer must now produce the room-by-room ventilation project for the complete layout.

Required professional project

The installer must receive the same scaled layout used for the BH application: five escape rooms, one children’s room, all shared/customer areas, the staff room, sanitary rooms and the maximum people in each room. The application maximum for the premises is 50 people.

The project should state at least:

  1. the design occupancy and required outdoor-air quantity for every room;
  2. the combined design airflow and operating modes for occupied, unoccupied, purge and emergency conditions;
  3. the location, size and route of every supply, extract, transfer and outside-air opening;
  4. fan, duct, damper, silencer, filter and control selections;
  5. the relevant dB/noise data for the equipment and complete system, plus how room-to-room and outside sound transfer is prevented;
  6. fire/smoke treatment for every penetration through a fire-separating wall or ceiling;
  7. controls, sensors, alarms and failure response;
  8. measurable commissioning values for each room and the complete system; and
  9. access, cleaning, filter replacement, inspection and maintenance requirements.

The exact calculation basis and accepted thresholds belong to the installer’s project and BH review. Previous rule-of-thumb airflows for a three-room/four-product launch must not be copied into the submission.

Ventilation and heat-pump information for the BH

Provide:

  • manufacturer and model data sheets;
  • rated airflow, heating/cooling output, electrical data and sound data;
  • exact indoor and outdoor equipment positions on the plan, matching the required equipment-location information in the BH protocol;
  • duct, refrigerant, condensate, electrical and maintenance-access routes;
  • façade/roof/window penetrations and landlord consent where required; and
  • the relationship between ventilation air and heat-pump heating/cooling.

A heat pump does not itself prove adequate fresh air. If the proposed equipment only recirculates room air for heating/cooling, the ventilation project must show the separate outdoor-air solution.

Coordination before walls and ceilings are fixed

  • Confirm the construction below the hall/ceiling downward and the wall to the neighbouring hall with Herr Gillesberger.
  • Coordinate all penetrations and dampers with the approved fire-separation design.
  • Reserve accessible service space; do not permanently bury equipment behind drywall or scenery.
  • Coordinate power, emergency response and general/safety lighting with the electrical contractor.
  • Keep grilles, access panels and emergency devices clear of scenery and removable finishes.

Quote and commissioning gate

Obtain a written, like-for-like quote only after the room layout and people per room are fixed. The quote must separate design, equipment, installation, fire/smoke components, electrical work, controls, commissioning, documentation and maintenance.

Before opening, retain the approved project, equipment data sheets, measured commissioning report, operating instructions and maintenance schedule in the facility file.
